Aurora borealis - Northern Lights, Abisko, Sweden

A clear sky and a moderate (I was told) activity of the sun reaches Abisko. This photo is beside the train station, while the train was coming.

Jukkasjärvi, Kiruna, Sweden
A lovely day at Jukkasjärvi, the village where the Ice Hotel is located. The whole village seems to be this long street, with a few houses here and there. I really liked the white landscape, the empty spaces and the sun rays adding some colour to the whole picture.

This is part of the snowmobile tour we did to the Ice Hotel, from Campalta to Jukkasjärvi, in Kiruna, on January 28th, 2012. Great fun and the camera, the GoPro Hero2, stood up very well in the cold wind.

Warsaw, Poland, Pt II
I did say what a beautiful city Warsaw is, didn't I? Unfortunately, I only saw the center, so I don't have an overall opinion. Nevertheless, althought the view of Vistula river is nothing special - at least that time of the year -, the view of the forest and especially the palace from the river is quite impressive.

Abisko, Sweden Pt II

Same day as the previous post.
The first photo is from the way back. The, cloudy those two days, sky is opening to the south and the sun is again visible (but not warming us yet). That previous week - the skies were clear - was the first time that winter that the sun became visible in the horizon.
The other photo is a small nest at the end of a branch. Looks like a nest, at least...

That was our last day in that trip and a couple hours before we took the train for Kiruna (and then back home). We walked in those snowy/icy paths from Abisko Östra to the Abisko Tourist Station and then a little further away, to the frozen waterfall. The water is still flowing from... somewhere, making a small opening in the ice, down in the canyon, and then taking its way towards the lake under a layer of ice and snow.
Dogsledding in Abisko, Sweden
Abisko is a small village next to the Natural Park of the same name, in north Sweden. There are a several things you can do there and dogsledding is one of them.
This video is the short version of the... well, long version of the tour, whose riding part lasted over one hour.
This is one of my first efforts with GoPro Hero2.

Kiruna, Sweden
Trip to Kiruna, Sweden, the last days of January, hoping to see the Northern Lights. We were lucky enough to have clear skies almost all of the days and the nights we managed to see the Lights, although not very intense. Exposure in this photo was 30 seconds. The day photos are from the city, which seems to start getting off the white cover by the end of April.
The trip had also a couple days stop in Abisko, with much nicer Northern Lights (patience... :)).
